autumn fae

New member...

Hey! I'm Ava and I'm new here. I love everything about autumn, but Halloween is definitely my favorite part. I look forward to it all year long! Here's my introduction survey.

1.) What was your first Halloween costume you can remember?:
In kindergarten I was a spiderweb witch! My costume was blue and black and had a spiderweb design all over it. I had the pointy hat, green makeup, and everything. I remember it clearly because I was the only girl in my class who wasn't a princess or a cheerleader. :D

2.)What is your favorite aspect of Halloween (the costumes, decorations, parties...):
Oh goodness, this is the hardest question! I love everything about Halloween, so it's difficult to narrow it all down to one favorite. I think I'll go with decorating and preparation in general. I think about Halloween ideas all year long, and working on those ideas and then seeing them come to fruition is awesome. I love feeling the almost childlike excitement that comes from getting ready, decorating the house, picking out a costume, planning a party, cooking delicious treats, etc. Halloween is an excuse to have fun, let loose, and be a kid again, and I find that very appealing. But like I said, it's hard to choose! Everything - atmosphere, costumes, decorations, food...I love it all!

3.) If you could plan one special Halloween party for all of your friends, how would you do it?:
Ooh, fun! First of all, I would somehow acquire permission to rent out a creepy gothic mansion, the perfect setting for a Halloween party. Or I'd magically bring the Addams Family mansion into existence. It would be a costume party, of course, so everyone would come dressed up. We would all go trick-or-treating before the party, then everyone would arrive at the mansion and stay all night. I would have one of my favorite bands perform live, maybe Type O Negative. Heck, if this is imaginary I might as well throw a bunch of other bands in too! There would be live music all night! I would make sure to prepare loads of delicious food and treats. I'm a cook so good food is always mandatory. ;) I would set up a sort of Halloween carnival so there would be plenty of things to do, and people could go off with flashlights to explore the haunted parts of the mansion if they had the guts. When everyone started to get tired, we would tell ghost stories and watch scary movies until we fell asleep (or stayed up all night from excitement and fright!).

4.) What's your favorite trick? Or your favorite treat?:
I can't really think of a trick, but my favorite treat is...everything! I love collecting Halloween-themed cookbooks and recipes, and I love whipping treats up in the kitchen. As for trick-or-treat candy, I'm especially fond of Reese's peanut butter cups, caramel popcorn, and classic candy corn.

5.) What is your fondest Halloween memory?:
Again, it's so hard to pick just one! I got into the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman when I was in middle school, and during my freshman year of high school I dressed up as Death, one of the comic's characters, while my older sister (the one who got me into the comics) went as Delirium. We spent that Halloween day doing fun stuff with a couple of close friends. We went to an outdoor autumn festival where we rode a hayride, played games, visited a pumpkin patch, and ate food around a bonfire. When nighttime arrived, we went trick-or-treating and then had a low-key sleepover with a horror film marathon. It was definitely one of the best Halloweens I've had because it was spent with the people I loved most, and we were young and carefree. :D

6.) What reminds you the most of Halloween?:
Autumn, generally speaking. When the weather starts to get chilly and the leaves change color, I start feeling excitement bubble up inside my stomach.

7.) Post a picture, send a recipe, a poem, anything you'd like.
